The Hitch is Link Community Development’s largest fundraising event and the biggest organised hitch-hike in the UK! Over 5,500 people have taken part in the Hitch since it started in 1992, raising more than £2.5million for LCD’s projects in sub-Saharan Africa. |
Hitch 2010 has now finished! Almost 1,200 people made their way to Morocco and Prague in total, and are now working hard to reach their £350 fundraising targets.
This year's Hitchers have been picked up by the British canoe team, a professional poker player, a World Cup referee, a fashion editor for Paris Vogue and Simon Bird - among others! From the highs and lows of hitch-hiking itself, to the chance to visit the souks of Morocco and the cafes of Prague, it has certainly been a memorable trip for all. Now it's time to focus on meeting those fundraising targets - let's make this another record-breaking year for LCD!

The Morocco Hitch
Hitching the entire 1,200 mile journey to the coast of Africa is a truly remarkable achievement.
The journey takes you through the heart of rural France, onto Spain and a brief pause for paella, and finally into Morocco where a truly rich and distinctive culture awaits you.

The Prague HitchAt 700 miles, the Prague Hitch and ideal for those with less free time at Easter.
It may be a shorter journey but the Prague Hitch is equally memorable as you pass through several modern European countries before arriving in Prague, a city famous for its breathtaking architecture, young backpacking culture and cheap beer.
