Q. I have a number of cheques to send in – what should I do with them?
If the cheques are payable to Link Community Development, simply pop them in an envelope and send them in to Link Community Development, Unit 39 Kings Exchange Business Village, Tileyard Road, London N7 9AH. Don't forget to write your name and university on the back of each cheque so that we know to add them to your fundraising total!
If your cheques are payable to you, you will need to pay them into your own bank account and then write out a cheque (payable to Link Community Development) for the full amount and send it to the address above.
When sending us any money, we would really appreciate it if you could also send in the completed sponsorship form with their contact details - this allows LCD to thank your sponsors and also claim Gift Aid on any donations that are eligible - we must have full addresses and post codes to be able to do this.
Q. I have some cash to send to LCD – can I just pop that in the post too?
NO - PLEASE DON’T SEND US CASH BY POST!! If it gets lost in the post, there's nothing you will be able to do to recover it, and all your fundraising efforts will have gone to waste. We cannot take responsibility for any cash sent to us by post.
Instead, pay it into your own bank account, write out a cheque for the full amount payable to Link Community Development and send it to the usual address. If you collected the money by holding an event of any type, fill in the Events Record Form (available in the online resources area) and send it in with your cheque.
Q. I don't have a chequebook, is there any other way I can get donations to you?
Yes - we can take the money directly from your account using your card details if you ask us to. Simply call 0207 691 1824 and let us know your card details and how much money you have to transfer. This will usually be processed immediately and can be added straight on to your fundraising total.
Q. What is Gift Aid and how does it help LCD?
The Gift Aid scheme is run by the government and allows charities to get even more money from the donations they receive - and it doesn't cost you or the donor a penny. Anyone who is a UK taxpayer can complete the Gift Aid declaration and, for every £1 raised, another 28p will go to LCD.
For us to be able to claim the extra money, you must ask your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid declaration box on the sponsor form and provide their full address (we can’t claim it without this).
Please remember that unfortunately the additional Gift Aid money cannot count towards your Hitch fundraising total but it does allow your donations to go further and is greatly appreciated by LCD!
