Hitch Insurance








All Hitchers must be fully insured for the trip in order to be able to take part. Hitchers may choose to purchase the policy suggested by Link, or may choose their own policy.


Suggested policy

To make things easier for you, Link has sourced an insurance policy which is arranged by Infinity Insurance Solutions that we believe will provide adequate cover for both the hitch-hiking part of your journey and the time you spend in Morocco or Croatia.

The suggested insurance policy covers you for hitch-hiking whilst participating in Hitch 2012 provided it is legal to hitch-hike in the country through which you are travelling.

Please note that this is the master policy document and you cannot make claims using this. Once you purchase the policy, you will be given a unique individual policy number that you should quote in the event of needing to make a claim.

Whilst this policy has been designed specifically for the Hitch, we are not able to offer you any advice regarding this policy; please bear in mind that it is up to you to check that it suits your requirements. It is not compulsory to purchase this policy, although we suggest that you consider it as an option. To purchase the policy:

EITHER fill in and send back to Link the Insurance Form contained in your Hitch Pack.

OR purchase the policy from the online Hitch Shop which you can access through your online Hitch account.

Please note that the policy wording above relates to the master policy and will not provide you with travel insurance cover until you have purchased your individual policy. Once you purchase the policy, you will be sent a unique policy number which you will need in order to make any claims under the policy.


Using your own policy

You may choose to find your own insurance policy instead. If you do so, you must:

1. Check that your insurer knows that you will be hitch-hiking and that your insurance policy will provide cover for this.

2. Inform Link that you have your own policy and send us a copy of the policy wording by 15 February 2012.
