Meet the Team!

We have three full-time staff working on the Hitch and our other fundraising events. All of us have done the Hitch ourselves, so we know the event inside out. Read on to find out more about us...

Mike Zywina, Events Manager

"I started working for Link in August 2008 after graduating from Nottingham University. I did the Hitch myself in 2005, reaching Morocco from London in four days, and went on to be a Hitch Rep at Nottingham for two years. My Hitch was a remarkable, character-building, life-changing experience, and I’m absolutely delighted to still be involved with running the event six years later. If you’re reading this and asking yourself "Should I do the Hitch?" then I genuinely only have one answer for you...yes you should!"

Sally Pigott, Events Officer

"In my second year of an English and Philosophy degree at York University, looking for something exciting and worthwhile to do in my Easter holiday, I took part in the Hitch. It was a hugely rewarding experience in many ways, and this prompted me to become a Hitch Rep at York the following year. When I finished my degree this summer I did a two-week internship in Link’s London office. My passion and understanding for the Hitch and Link grew, and I’m proud to now be a fully fledged member of the team!"

Lotte Kendall, Fundraising & Events Officer

"My involvement with Link began when on a whim during Freshers' Week I signed up for the Hitch. My Hitch experience was incredible - my favourite lift was with a National Geographic photographer who spoke NINE languages! He drove us all the way through Spain, stopping off periodically to give us guided tours of some amazing sights and spoilt us to lavish meals along the way. I became a Hitch Rep in my second year at Liverpool University and four years on I’m working for the Events Team! I’m a ski-obsessed foodie with a love for travel and fundraising and would love nothing more than to talk about the Hitch and our other fantastic events all day...so if you would like to know a little bit more pick up the phone!"

Louisa McLellan, Volunteer Hitch Support Assistant

I took part in the Hitch in my first year at York University, and have been involved ever since! I had an absolutely amazing time, and being on the Hitch Committee and then being a Hitch Rep were so much part of my University experience I can’t imagine what I would have done with my time without it! Being at Link in these past few months has been incredible, I’ve already learnt so much and hope that I can carry the knowledge wherever I end up in the future! I have a passion for travelling, art and, of course, fundraising! In fact I’ve just signed up for the new Link event 20@20, so if you’re an ex-hitcher reading this- join up too!
