Join The Link Schools Programme

“The link with Brofoyedru School in Ghana has created not only global links but also strong links with the community. It has opened the children’s eyes to the wider world and has raised the profile of the school and the self-esteem of the whole community.”
Michael O'Grady, Link Co-ordinator at Queensferry Community Primary School

How do I join?

There is an annual fee of £550 to be part of the Link Schools Programme. This fee does not fully cover the cost of your school’s involvement but is a contribution towards our costs of running the programme, and allows us to support your partner’s involvement in our school improvement work.  To join, send your £50 deposit along with your complete application form which can be downloaded from www.lcdinternational.org.

If you would like us to send the application materials by email or if you would like to speak to us please email
linkschools@lcd.org.uk or phone 020 7691 1818.

Why do we we charge a fee?

There is an annual fee to be part of the Link Schools Programme. This fee does not fully cover the cost of your school’s involvement, but is a contribution towards the cost of running the programme and allows us to support your partner’s involvement in our school improvement work.

To ensure Link Schools Partnerships bring real benefits to both partners, we have staff on the ground with the skills, experience and dedication to support all schools involved in our programme. Link supports rural schools in isolated districts and communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Our support helps them to overcome obstacles such as remote location, low levels of school funding, and limited access to communications technology and other infrastructure, so that they can engage fully in a school partnership.

50% of your fee enables us to develop and manage the programme, offering you services including:

• Support staff available on a daily basis
• Partnership resource materials to help you embed your school partnership within the curriculum
• A twice-termly courier service to ensure safe communication with your partner school
• Support for school visits

The remaining 50% of the fee is sent to the country of your partner school to fund the same service for your partner. The cost of providing this service is not as high in your partner school’s country so the remainder of the fee is used to support our school improvement work in the country and district where your partner school is located. Link is committed to ensuring equality of development right across the districts in which we operate.
