Leadership Training for 120 School Directors

The 3rd and last session of the School Management and Director Development training series for elementary school directors in Wolaita was held from the 26th – 27th June 2010. It was well attended by over 120 participants, consisting of school directors and their deputies, woreda and zonal educational bureau representatives.
At the request of the zonal educational bureau a representative from each of the 13 woredas, in addition to Damot Gale and Bolosso Sore, were invited to showcase the exemplary work LCD Ethiopia has been doing and to encourage the other woredas to attempt to duplicate it.

The content of the training included; Aspects of Instructional Leadership, Holding More Effective Meetings, Pupil Management, Parent Involvement, Working with Groups and Planning Ahead. The last session was devoted to supervisors working with their cluster directors in making prior preparations to kick off to a good start the moment schools reopen in September.

Many directors stated their satisfaction that LCD Ethiopia had seen through the series of training and stated how much job satisfaction and insights they had developed over the year. As might be expected, many of the other woreda representatives inquired if LCD Ethiopia would expand to their woredas too and expressed their desire to explore means as to how to replicate LCDE’s work. All in all the training was a resounding success.
