Our vision is a world where all children have access to high quality education. In order to realise that vision we work in partnership with other members of the LCD group to develop and deliver innovative projects that promote access to quality education in Ghana.
Key Facts:
LCD was registered as an NGO in Ghana in 1999 and has a full time staff of 10 and 2 contract staff.
LCD is currently operating in 5 districts: Bolgatanga Municipality, Talensi-Nabdam, Kassena East & Kassena Central Districts in the Upper East Region, and Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma (BAK) district in Ashanti Region.
As part of LCD's School Performance Review (SPR), our successful school improvement programme, LCD provided direct training and support to 340 schools in 2007/8. SPR is a unique and participatory approach to school development. Each year, with LCD support, data on the areas school leadership and management, governance, teaching quality and community involvement is collected and analysed. This data is used to support districts, schools and their commuities to meet, discuss and effectively plan ahead in order to make necessary developments to the school. Ultimately this will improve the quality of teaching and learning taking place in the school. Last year our work impacted on 1,700 teachers and 102,000 children.
