Video Choice of the Week! This short biography depicts Nelson Mandela's struggle against apartheid in South Africa. He was released from almost 30 years of imprisonment in 1990, when then Presdient of South Africa, FW de Klerk, lifted the 30-year ban on the leading anti-apartheid party, the African National Congress. The first international Nelson Mandela Day was celebrated on 18th July, Mandela's 92nd birthday.

Funding news!
We are enhancing the scope of the Link Schools Programme and relaunching the Global Teachers Programme in 2011, thanks to recent funding from the Irish Aid Development Education Unit, and European Union funding for the project 'Partners in Development'.
About us LCD Ireland is a member of the International LCD family and is working to ensure access to quality education for children in Africa. In addition, we are working with Irish schools and teachers to give them a greater knowledge and understanding of development and of life in Africa.
