Cairo to Cape Town Challenge 2010!
On March 26th, 2010, cross the Continent of Africa, without leaving your own yard and raise money for schools in Africa! This event is open to schools, clubs, businesses or any group of people who want to get involved. Schools and clubs may retain 15% of the total funds raised and everyone will be in with a chance of winning fantastic prizes!
If you're interested in finding out more about the Cairo to Cape Town Challenge 2010, email info@lcd.ie or text “CCC” to 087 9697623 with your name and contact details. Every participating business, school, club or group will receive a pack of materials, including an Interactive Map of Africa to complete the cross-continental Challenge on the big day!
This event is very suitable for Transition Year modules and CSPE Action Projects and Link Communty Development will attempt to accommodate requests for school visits in relation to such projects.

Cairo to Cape Town Challenge 2010!

Féadfaidh le comhlachtaí, scoileanna, clubanna agus grupaí éagsúla ar fud na hÉireann pairt a ghlacadh agus spraoi a bhaint as an mbailiúchán airgid i gcomhair Link Community Development. Féadfaidh le cuile duine duaiseanna íontacha a bhuachaint agus féadfaidh le scoileanna/clubanna 15% den iomlán a choimeád !
Connemarathon 2010 - Register for Free!
The 2010 Connemarathon - with Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon options - takes place on April 11th. This is a really unusual Marathon that winds through the stunning scenery of Connemara in Co. Galway. We will reimburse the €70 Registration Fee of any supporter who raises €300 or more in aid of Link Community Development. For more details, see www.connemarathon.com or contact us!
Women’s Mini Marathon
The Women's Mini Marathon, on the June Bank Holiday Monday of every year, is a really fun day out. The sun always seems to be blazing and the city is full of enthusiastic charity supporters.
The route covers a nicely flat 10km through Dublin city centre and with bands and water stations dotted all along the way, this is a race suited to everyone, from first time walkers to experienced athletes.
And to top it all off, LCD puts on a great picnic in St. Stephen's Green afterwards for runners and their friends!

Wicklow 200 Bike Race
June 13th sees return of the annual Wicklow 200 and 100 kilometre Cycle Races. Climb up to 2000m and over the narrow mountain roads through the breathtaking surroundings of the

Christmas Drinks, Friday Dec 18th
Thanks to all the LCD Supporters who joined us in the Citi Hotel in Dublin on December 18th for our 2009 Christmas Drinks. It was a fun night out and a great celebration of another great year’s work, together with the people who help us to make it happen!
Legends of Lough Key Adventure, Halloween 2009
Link Community Development was the official Charity Partner of the Legends of Lough Key, on October 31st 2009. There was a whole range of activities from a Spooky Fun Run and a brilliant Treasure Hunt in the forest, to a spectacular Abseil or Zip Wire descent from the top of the legendary Moylurg Tower, to a 10k Twillight Run in the atmospheric Lough Key forest park, not to mention the chance to explore all the beautiful little islands dotted on Lough Key itself in your very own Kayak! Thanks to Detail Events and to all those who took part!
2009 Dublin City Marathon

Carrauntoohil Night Hike
On August 22nd 2009, the latest in the series of Carrauntoohil Night Hikes in aid of Link Community Development took place! Climbers donned head torches and joined experienced and qualified mountaineering guides from Outdoors Ireland for this exciting and unique night ascent of Ireland's highest peak. After descending Carrauntoohil in the dawn light, they enjoyed a huge freshly cooked breakfast in Killarney. Food never tasted this good!!
