Become a school sponsor and you could make a difference to school improvement.
What is School Sponsorship?
Sponsoring a school in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa, and Uganda is a unique way to make a lasting difference to improving education in Africa. By supporting a particular school you will be helping many more schools and pupils receive a better education each year. As the school improves, so will life for the whole community. Through our feedback reports and project updates you will be able to see the difference yourself.
Why is it needed?
Many children travel long distances to attend poorly resourced schools, with no books, huge class sizes and few qualified teachers. Without education it is incredibly hard for any community to escape the cycle of poverty. School sponsorship offers a way for you to help support children’s education.
What your support provides
Your support allows your school to be part of Link Community Development’s Whole District Model giving them access to a programme of school improvement services including School Performance Review, and HIV/AIDS Action Planning. As part of a long term educational development project, the school you sponsor will work with Link Community Development, with the district and with all other schools in the district to identify their strengths and weaknesses, to create achievable school improvement plans, to empower the school’s community to support school improvement, and to guide the school to make improvements by providing centre-based training and school-based support.

What do you receive as a Sponsor?
As a School Sponsor you will receive a welcome pack which includes a colour profile of your school, a letter from our patron Desmond Tutu and more information on Link Community Development's work in Africa. As well as this you will get annual feedback about your school's progress – showing you how your money is making a difference to your school and to all other schools in the district.
