Our vision is a world where all children have access to high quality education. In order to realise that vision we work in partnership with other members of the LCD group to develop and deliver innovative projects that promote access to quality education in Uganda.
Key Facts: LCD was registered as an NGO in Uganda in 2000 and is led by Programme Director Derek Nkata.
LCD began work in Masindi in the north-west of Uganda and now operates programmes in 4 districts: Masindi, Katakwi, Buliisa & Kamwenge.
LCD has had considerable success with its Uganda School Improvement Programme which is recognised as being instrumental in the improvements in teaching and learning in Masindi schools. An independent study by the IOB (the Policy and Operations Evaluation Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs) reported that LCD project schools perform approximately 45%-55% better than comparable non-project schools. Since LCD began work in Masindi, the district has risen from one of the worst performing in the country's results table to one of the best.
Beneficiaries:
LCD's partnerships with District Departments of Education have impacted directly on 362 schools improving the quality of teaching and learning for 180,942 children and 3,511 Head Teachers and Teachers.
