Build your leadership skills while making a difference for children in Africa
About Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders is a program by Link Community Development (Link) that offers innovative leadership opportunities to American high school students and builds support for Link's efforts to improve education for children in Africa. Link's Emerging Leaders program creates tomorrow's change-makers; fostering leadership development, education on Africa and global development issues, activism, and community engagement. Emerging Leaders provides an exciting opportunity for youth to build partnerships with school communities in Africa and become effective leaders in their home communities.
What do Emerging Leaders Do?
- Attend two day-long leadership institutes led by Link USA staff
- Begin a Link Student Organization at their high school
- Lead Link Student Organization in awareness events, challenging assumptions about Africa
- Fundraise for Link's that help schools in Africa.
How to apply
High School students who demonstrate a passion for Africa, social justice and human rights, as well as leadership and community development, are encouraged to apply to the Emerging Leaders program. Please complete the application and submit it to jessica@lcd-usa.org by 5pm on September 28, 2011.
