Coronavirus Update

Updated 02 April 2020

Since COVID19 was declared a pandemic the number of confirmed cases worldwide continues to rise and we are all now feeling the effects.

Hundreds of millions of children around the world are not in school. The governments of Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi and Ethiopia have all implemented school closures some of which have now been extended beyond the initial period.

The March for Progress

On the 8th of March, people all over the world will celebrate International Women’s Day by renewing the calls for gender equality across all aspects of life. At Link, we are fighting for women’s rights to education, something which sadly is still unobtainable for many girls.

UNESCO statistics do show encouraging progress:

The future of Link Ghana

LCDI and Link Ghana wish to announce that they have mutually and amicably agreed to terminate their partnership and end their affiliation as from 31st December 2019. Effective from 1st January 2020, LCDI and Link Ghana will no longer be associated.

Link Ghana has a long and illustrious history as a member of the Link family. It has a strong track record of delivering quality education programmes in Ghana and is currently delivering a DFID-funded girls’ education challenge programme in northern Ghana, in partnership with World Education.

Link opens a brand new secondary school in Ethiopia!

You might have been following our progress over the past year as we construct a brand new secondary school in deep-rural Ethiopia. It’s the first of four new schools that we’re building to open up access to pupils in remote areas who otherwise may never have had the chance to attend secondary school because there wasn’t one in their area.

We are so thrilled to say that last month our new school opened its doors and welcomed its first pupils! Here is a snapshot from inside the brand new Sorto School.
