Improving the quality of education in Africa

Link's Global News

Herald on Sunday features Link's work

Link has been working with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Malawi since 2006 to improve the provision of quality education. Together we have developed a considated set of National Education Standards which apply to all primary and secondary schools in Malawi. These Standards set out the minimum level of quality which all schools in Malawi must deliver and higher levels of performance to which all schools can aspire. This enables government, schools and communities to focus their efforts on achieving the same goals for school improvement.

Every year charities across the country celebrate the work of their volunteers. Fundraising Officer Jake Laws reflects on his experiences of volunteering with Link.

September 2015 marks four years of involvement with Link Community Development for me. Back in 2011, when I had just started University, my friend and I decided to sign up for Link’s signature fundraising event, Hitch. I can safely say that I did not know that the decision we made on the second week of term in 2011 would make the impact on my life that it has!

Steve Blunden pays tribute to a friend and long-term supporter of Link Community Development

Dear friends,

We are very saddened to hear the news that one of our best friends, Frances Hillier, passed away on New Year’s Day. It is hard to put words together in times of such sadness, but, as Frances might have said, ‘try the beginning Steve’.
