Improving the quality of education in Africa

The Sumo Run is coming!

The Sumo Run is coming to Edinburgh!

The Sumo Run returns to the Meadows in Edinburgh on 4th October 2015 – Make sure you don’t miss out!

As we get closer and closer to Sumo Run 2015, we are getting more and more excited here at Link Community Development. Having sold out self-funded places already, we are expecting this year’s run to be the biggest yet!

The Sumo Run is an annual 5km fun run around the Meadows, Edinburgh. It is the same as every other fun run, except for the fact that all of our participants have to don inflatable Sumo Suits as they take on Edinburgh's funniest race. We have recently been rated as the UK’s number one fun run by Tombola – the principle sponsors of ITV’s Loose Women.

It is important to remember why every year the Sumos take over the Meadows - To raise money for Link Community Development. The Sumo Run is an important source of income for Link and the learners in Africa that we benefit.

Link Community Development is an internationally registered NGO that aims to improve the quality of education in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi and Uganda. Since 1992, we have improved the learning outcomes of over 1.7 million children in over 3,000 schools. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved, but there is still a lot of work to be done as we strive to create a world where all children have access to the quality education they deserve.

We are asking you to help us on our mission, by taking some time out to fundraise for us! For just £25 you can register for our amazing event knowing that every penny you can raise will help us towards achieving our goals.

Taking a moment to give back is really fulfilling, and will leave you with an even bigger smile on your face when you don your Sumo suit at the Meadows - After all, giving releases the same endorphins as chocolate!

Without the support of our Sumos every year, we would not be able to help improve the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa. Thank you to all of those who have signed up already, and we hope to see the rest of you there!
