Walking 100km for Link!

Thames Path Challenge 2013

During September this year, four brave Link supporters set out on an epic challenge to complete the Thames Path Challenge. The challenge was to walk a staggering 100km or a shorter (but just as tasking!) 50km alongside the Thames River as it meanders all the way from Putney to Henley-on-Thames. Not only was there a vast distance to cover, but it was to be completed within a 24 hour time frame - so walking all through the night was a necessity!

Our brave clan was made up of Raam Dutia, Karen Graham, Hugh Mullally and our very own board member Elaine Graham. Don’t underestimate the challenge of walking for 24 hours! Sore feet, blisters and exhaustion are all part of the package. And not only that, but just as registration opened that morning, the heavens opened too… Elaine commented that on walking from the tube to the start line, her trainers were already soaked through!

But despite it all, they completed it in true style. Elaine (100km) finishing in 25 hours 28 mins, Raam Dutia (100km) in 25 hours 50 mins and Karen and Hugh (50km) in 13 hours 13 mins.

A huge thank you to all of you for completing such a tremendous challenge and raising a substantial sum of money in support of Link.
