Mr Alasdair Beaton
Alasdair Beaton is the chairman of the Link Community Development board. Alasdair joined the board in 2014, following a 43 career in aviation as a pilot. With considerable experience in marketing and a being a knowledgeable decision-maker, Alasdair is passionate about pursuing education as a means of development in sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular interest in supporting women in their local communities.
Ms Seonaid Crosby
Seonaid is a member of the Institute of chartered Accountants of Scotland qualifying with PwC in 2013 and currently working within the Scottish Futures Trust’s (SFT) Education team where she is involved in the Early Learning and Childcare expansion programme. She is the chair of Link's Finance and Risk Committee.
Ms Susan Grant
Susan joins the Board with over 20 years’ experience working within international development across sub-Saharan Africa. She is currently based at Save the Children as the International Child Safeguarding Director, and is highly skilled in facilitating strategic development in this area, as well as in the practical skills of providing training, implementing strategies, embedding safeguarding best practice in the heart of and across entire organisations, and overseeing audit and enforcement of these procedures. Susan has been nominated as the Child Protection and Safeguarding champion for Link, whereby she is responsible for overseeing the safe practices of Link, ensuring no person comes to harm.
Professor Martyn Roebuck
Professor Martyn Roebuck is the former chairman of the Link Community Development board. Martyn has 24 years’ experience in inspection services in Scotland and Malawi, and is an expert in educational improvement. With extensive experience in the management of educational change, including the introduction of new technologies into learning and teaching, Martyn has given expert advice to various Government Departments, the European Union, and the British Council.
Mr Roger Cunningham
Roger joined the board in June 2016. As a former Senior Education Adviser with DFID in India, Pakistan and the Caribbean and a National Expert to the European Commission as Education Adviser Southern Africa, he brings considerable knowledge and experience to the Link Community Development International board.
Dr Gari Donn
Gari has extensive experience in the field of education having taught BSc (Hons) and MSc programmes at the University of Edinburgh in the field of the Sociology of Education and International Education. Having worked with Ministers of Education throughout the Commonwealth through the Higher Education Desk of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Gari is now active in the United Nations Association as a convenor representing Scotland on the UNA UK Board of Governors. Gari has valuable knowledge and skills that are advantageous for Link.
Ms Elaine Graham
Elaine is a Senior Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1985, Elaine is a vastly experienced and valuable member of the Link board.
Mr Chris O'Brien
Chris joined the board in December 2016, bringing vast experience of networking, project management and leadership to Link Community Development International. As the chair of the Income Generation Committee, Chris is helping Link to generate new contacts and seek funding opportunities to increase our impact across sub-Saharan Africa.
Mr Fergus Mackintosh
Fergus is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with 28 years’ experience in UK and International property and finance. His most recent role was Head of Real Estate, Africa for the Standard Bank Group, managing the Bank’s lending and investment business across the African continent.
Mr Richard Santandreu
Richard is an experienced IT professional and businessman. Richard has a wide range of charitable interests.
